You know how in books it always has a dedication at the beginning? Right before a chapter one, a preface, or even one of those "introductions by famous so-and-so critics"? If this post of my blog was a book, then this post would be dedicated to my one and only, older sister Amy, probably my biggest fan (only because she's always telling me to update because she's CONSTANTLY checking it it to read about my fabulous life!) Um, ok, maybe not constantly - or even daily - but it's nice to know I have a reader. And it makes it extra special that is a sib, and one of the coolest people I know. : ) So hopefully this will meet your blogging standards, because hey sis, this post is for you!

Rather than a LONG update, there have definitely been some changes since the last two times I wrote. Not the last one (the _________ one) but the "awesome" one, where I used the word awesome alot referring to all the "upcoming" changes or events. Well, they have come, my friends! I am living in an apartment, where I am blogging at this moment in my cozy bed that my mom bought at an auction at an estate sale. (Don't be creeped out, it was in the guest bedroom, and it has an awesome foot and head board..) Anyway, little by little my room has come together (I was organizing my shoes and purses just earlier today, in fact. Ok, that is my motivation to clean - I always start where I have the most fun, so sue me), and little by little our apartment has come together, too. I have an awesome roommate Tara, and we have so much fun together doing Will Hung impressions to EACH and EVERY song we can think of, and we like to say "SERIOUSLY!!!" to just about anything that gets our attention, good or bad. Ok, not the only two things we do, there are SO many other things, but those are just a couple of inside jokes I'll let you in on at first. Anyway, she's awesome, like I said, and so is my boyfriend who I recently had an anniversary with! Four years! I don't want to say "I can't believe it!" just because it seems like I've said that a few times last week, so now I'm like, "Wow, 4 years, that is a LONG time to be with someone but it's been 4 WONDERFUL years.." So Ben is my high school sweetheart, and we have lots of inside jokes as well. : )

Since I'm writing about relationships at the moment I might as well add in my parents! I just had a really fun Easter weekend with them, full of even more inside jokes and memories that I will have forever. Gotta say one story that cracked me up: "Hey Mom, is the Easter bunny coming this year?" "Yeah, hon, but I'm not sure if he has an Easter basket for your things this year.." "Well, if worse comes to worse, he could grab that kleenex box over there, empty it out and use it." "Emily, that's pretty ghetto.." My mom said "ghetto"! It was hilarious! And the Easter Bunny did come to my house, and he did have a basket filled with those awesome miniature reeses cups, a chocolate rabbit, some more candy, and even a teddy bear who is Bunky's cousin, who was wearing bunny ears! I wore them for the rest of the day, however, scaring Cooper - accidentally - a couple of times, but Dad making me take them off for the drive home ("You don't know who could be out there, see a cute girl with rabbit ears and run you off the road or something..You NEVER know, just don't wear 'em, ok Emily?" At least he was being protective as he took them off himself and tossed them in the car! : ) ...Oh, and me and mom went and saw Meet the Robinsons in theaters. Two things that made it great: It was actually a really cute movie that I was able to see with my mom, 2. We saw in 3-D! That was so awesome! *hehe* : P

So other than the new memories this Easter, going to church on Easter Sunday was wonderful as usual and I had hymns stuck in my head all day (not a bad thing, of course! I let them go off and I sang along!) I hope everyone had a glorious Easter as well! : )

P.S. Did I mention that is snowed on Saturday? In East Texas...in April...It snowed! ***

P.P.S. Did I mention that I am sorry its been a few months and I will try to do better now that things have calmed down..for the most part? (yikes..)

D E D I C A T I O N

For my sister, who I miss and wish I could see more often, who is always there for me no matter what, who keeps me supplied with books, and who I sang with in the car before Tara came along. "California Dreamin' on such a winter day.."

To Amy! I love you! I hope you have a great week at school ~ happy readings! xoxxo

Ok, so an update...

I really don't have much to say at this exact moment; I was taking advantage of the commercial break on SNL to come to the computer to see Maisy, Amy and Nathan's new cute puppy (Mom's idea: "Come in here and see pictures!") Then Mom left so I sat down, came across MY link, and thought I'd drop a line to let you all know that I'm still around, just really busy and will update with an actual post of somewhat significance later...

Ok, I don't think that my automatic keys for my car will unlock my dorm room. Um..for some reason I had my hand on that part of my keys the other day. Nope, didn't unlock the door. And then I realized what I was trying to do and started laughing in the hallway. I'm sure if anyone had walked by I probably looked like an idiot. : ) But then I opened my door and went in and did whatever I did after that..

So I've had a really great week! I'm excited about..everything! I don't really want the semester to end, but when it does I will be very excited about my grades! And I'm excited about Christmas break! I'm excited that I'm getting to go work at the museum again! And I'm excited that me and my awesome roommate are moving into an awesome apartment! (Just gotta furnish it..and finally decide who's going to get the master bedroom..but I'm so excited and it's going to be SO awesome!) Wow, I've said awesome a lot in this paragraph. Well, I guess it's like I said in that first sentence. Things have been just going awesome for me lately. But anyway!

Oh, oh! I'm actually working at the front desk right now, and a couple of the residents are down here just hanging out. We've been discussing movies; that also makes me happy! : ) To give you a preview, Sense and Sensibility came up in the conversation and I got real excited about that (lol), I was saying how Tolkien was a GENIUS, and now we're discussing directors that we respect, too. Good times!

I realized something the other day. It involves Saved by the Bell and Friends. This is what I realized: Saved by the Bell is the Junior High version of Friends. Or rather, Friends is the adultified version of Saved by the Bell. :-)

My mom's been getting me Saved by the Bell on Netflix (hey, don't judge! finish reading...) and just with the one episode I saw, the humor and everything made me think of Friends, and how they're SO similar. Seriously! They both have the 3 girls and 3 guys (not that the characters are the same, just younger or older, but the fact that there are 3 and 3) and the laughing track or whatever its called "laughs" about the same amount of times, and at the same times of the show (whether it be a small laugh in the middle of a one liner, or a whole situation that makes you laugh.)

Oh, and what else? Yes, there's more! Of course, the Max is similar to the Central Perk for schizzle...(um, my boss just that typed that in...i had just finished the word "perk" and he came over and just typed that..but I'm not changing it because it does make sense, even though he doesn't usually talk like that - i just felt like explaning)....ok, what was I saying? See, when I digress like that I completely lose my train of thought. Ok, The Max and Central Perk - the hangout spot for the "gang." Which, of course, they ALWAYS have to be together. The 2 pairs of Sixes..because they all can't function without eacher other. So yeah, it's not something you just think about, how they're basically the same show, but it is interesting when you put in perspective and think about it like that.

You: Thanks, Emily! Now we know!"
Me: "..and knowing is half the battle!"
G.I. JOE!!!! :-)

Oh before I forget! I just saw a commercial that drives me crazy! Of course you all have seen those commercials that promote educational toys and what not. Well, have you seen the one for Leapster (or something like that)? Well, basically it's this home video of these two kids in the backseat playing/learning with one. The mom is narrating afterwards wondering outloud (well, to us anyway) about what to title the video...she basically asks what she should name it. It goes something like this:
"(How about..)Kyle and Max in the car?" "(Or) Kyle and Max playing.." Ok, now, what do you think will come next? Seriously, let's infer here...what do you think will come next, since its an educational toy... "Kyle and Max learning" right? Yeah, that's what I thought. But this is what she says...

"Kyle and Max increasing the size of their brains."

What the..?! "Increasing the size of their brains!?!?" Is that bad writing or what! Well, at least I think so. Or maybe it's the way she says it. Maybe "learning" would've been too cliche since that is what I thought she was going to say, and what everyone else thought she was going to say. Maybe they thought they (the makers of this commercial) should make it different by making it longer, but I think not only is that too long, but horrible writing. But like, I said, that may just be me..

But I'll tell you commercials that I WILL always love: Welch's Grape Juice commercials! They are always able to find the cutest kids ever! The one I just saw was with a girl in pigtails..adorable!

Moving on...I'm snacking on these sourdough pretzel things..I love these salty wonders! :-)

It's funny when I'm walking across campus to work a shift and on the route I go I see several others wearing the same shirt headed to the residence hall where they work...wow, that was a long sentence. It's just funny, because sometimes I'll be headed over to Wisely (where I am now : ) and I see other DA's on their way to work, too. It's even funnier if I'm on my cell phone and everyone else is, too. But don't worry, I don't walk by myself at night if it's after 10 - and I'm always careful,as you should be.

I'm happy I don't have to close on Tuesday nights anymore! Especially this Tuesday, since it's Halloween and I actually have plans this year. Well, I did something last year, too. I went to David Anderson's apartment (whenever I actually found it! lol) and watched The Village with him, Michael, and Michelle. That was fun! But this year the trombones (lol) are having Bone-R-Treating or something like that. I'm not sure what it entails, but it should be fun! And Ben and I are going to dress up in our Star Trek costumes! I'm excited! And they are the real, old school outfits - not homemade either! Like, I have the red dress with the black collar and wrists, with the gold triangular symbol in the corner, and he has the light blue shirt with all that, too. We've only worn them once before, and it was actually out to eat one time. We were just being silly - it was right after we got them, and he was like, "We HAVE to wear these!" : ) It was fun! But anyway, I'm excited! :-)

Pretty short post. Not much to really talk about. If I'm feeling more talkative later then I'll definitely update.

Oh yeah - I wish American Dreams Season 2 and 3 would come out on DVD. That is all!

Wow, has it really been a month!?!? I thought I was on a roll again...oh well..I tried. : )

In other recent news..ok, yeah, I have been really busy! Yesterday? I had something due in EVERY one of my classes. Yeah, and two of them were pretty big projects. But it was SO nice to turn everything in and reach the end of the day - what a lift!
: )

Aww, I love Gilmore Girls! I'm at work right now (hehe, thats usually where I blog) and I always watch it at 10 on ABCfamily in the background of whatever I may be doing - or I just watch it if I DON'T have something to do. But yeah! Emily is SO funny! She's a great actress - and Lorelai! Too bad Lauren Graham hasn't gotten an Emmy for the show. So sad..

I love that pic! I don't know, I had writers block after I mentioned Lorelai (ironic since she's my inspiration for rambling on and on with random references..there's an alliteration for ya, too) so I thought I'd add a random picture. This was at Turner's Surprise Birthday Party a few weeks ago..fun times!

Well, I better finish while I don't have alot to say and before I think of something else random to just throw in here. But then it would be sad, because it wouldn't really mean anything. It would be like, "Oh yeah, you know what else happened.." That seems pretty insignificant. So yeah. If I think of something else I'll just add a new post, which wouldn't be such a bad idea because then it won't be so long before I was to blog again. (Yep, that's how I'll do it!)

Have a thoughtful Thursday!

A few years back, I really missed TNBC.
They replaced these great shows for pre-teens and teens called T(Teen) NBC with yet another line of Saturday morning cartoons! I LOVED Saved by the Bell (the NEW Class...hmm), Hang Time, City Guys, One World, and my favorite, Just Deal! (And even some of the older ones from the '90s, California Dreams..was that what it was called? I liked that one, too! *hehe*) But yeah! One morning I get up to watch 'em, and guess what? TNBC RIP. It was no longer. I didn't even get to find out what happened in Just Deal with Dylan and Ashley - did they get back together?? Or did they stay friends??? I guess I will n e v e r know...

So anyway, they were replaced, blah, blah, blah, and the only thing I EVER watched was Trading Spaces for Kids. I actually had to revert to ABC Disney to pathetically catch (well, hey, while I'm on the couch with my eyes on the tv..) Lizzie McGuire, and Recess (no, I liked Recess - they were some funny kids). But it still made me mad. This was a few years ago, and I've had to grow accustomed to my Saturday morning breakfast at the table for once. (Wow, that sounds awful!) But today I got up (Yay! Home for the weekend!) and for some reason I went into the den where Dad was reading the paper, and I see Babar! I haven't seen Babar in forever! I grew up with Babar! And I LOVE elephants! So I decide to watch it, since I really haven't seen a cartoon in a while (and don't get me started on some of those cartoons nowadays, I'll get on my soapbox and never come off - a post for a different day), and then an ad comes on detailing this NEW Saturday morning lineup of cartoons. And get this? They have VeggieTales! So as disappointed I've always been about my forgotten teen shows (where most of the time, they really couldn't act), NBC might actually have something good now...for a Saturday morning I mean. I will ALWAYS be mad about my beloved American Dreams. Grrrr...... :-D
